Heart Arrhythmia / Rhythm Disorders
Heart Arrhythmia and Rhythm Disorders can occur even in people who do not have underlying heart disease.
An arrhythmia is a change in the regular beat of the heart. The heart may seem to skip a beat or beat irregularly or very fast or very slowly. Many times, there is no recognizable cause of an arrhythmia, which might be cause by environmental factors such as stress, caffeine, tobacco, alcohol, diet pills, and cough and cold medicines.
In some people, arrhythmia is associated with heart disease, and the heart disease itself might pose a significant risk to the patient. In some cases, arrhythmia itself is dangerous. This type of arrhythmia requires medical treatment such as drugs or surgery to keep the heartbeat regular. If left untreated, serious arrhythmia might result in death when the heart stops beating.
Serious arrhythmia is treated in several ways depending on what is causing the arrhythmia, but is incumbent upon a patient's medical provider to make sure the proper treatment is administered. If a misdiagnosed or ignored arrhythmia results in the wrongful death, you need to find resources to deal with the legal and emotional aftermath. At PLP, we can help with both.
